Strong iced tea leads to kidney stones and the Red Cross against Tuberculosis

With the onset of summer, scientists sounded the alarm. Experts warn fans to quench their thirst with strong cold tea, as it can cause the formation of kidney stones and urinary tubes. This is especially true for men after the age of forty, since it is at this age that the risk of developing this disease increases.
The main chemical that has a direct effect on the development of kidney stones, called oxalate, has recently been discovered by scientists in high concentrations in frozen tea. The combination of high air temperature, which leads to dehydration of the body, and the use of the much-loved chilled strong tea increases the possibility of developing urolithiasis.

Contrary to public opinion that iced tea is harmless compared to drinks such as soda or beer, urologists from the University of Chicago warn against drinking tea. The prepared chilled tea contains above–normal oxalates, acid salts that are so harmful to the kidneys. Doctors also advise to be careful in the summer with foods such as chocolate, spinach and rhubarb. American doctors have concluded that an old proven way to quench thirst, like water with lemon, is the best option, since lemon juice prevents the growth of kidney stones. Calcium-rich foods also help the body in the fight against oxalate.

Red Cross against Tuberculosis

The Belarusian Red Cross is planning an action against tuberculosis on March 25. As the Secretary General of the Republican Committee of the Belarusian Red Cross Society (BOC) stated at a press conference Viktor Kolbanov, the action will be held with the support of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

Flyers and other promotional and informational materials dedicated to tuberculosis issues will be distributed as part of the campaign. The campaign will be held near the Komarovsky market, where a device for rapid diagnosis of the disease "Pulmoexpress" will also be installed.

In the future, similar actions are planned to be held every quarter in the city center.

Throughout March, the Red Cross also holds fundraisers for tuberculosis patients. The funds will be used to purchase medicines, vitamin complexes, and hygiene products. In addition, in all organizations of the Red Cross, everyone can transfer things for tuberculosis patients, as well as hygiene products.
