The National Lottery Authority (NLA) is the designated body that oversees the regulation of all lotteries in the country and is the only body tasked with organising raffles for the public.

The NLA has been operating since 1958 but the Lotto and Betting Act 94 was officially passed into law to start a lottery in Ghana in 1960. Lottery has since become key to revenue generation by the government, with the NLA gaining autonomy following the passing of an Act of parliament, the National Lotto Act 722, in 2006.

Monday Special

Monday Special can be played on all NLA point of Sale machines across the country or via the shortcode *890# on all networks, after which a draw is held to select the five winning numbers.

Tuesday Bonanza

This lottery also takes place every Tuesday and is also a 5/90 fixed odd Game which involves the selection of a maximum of 5 out of 90 numbers at a play. It can be played on all NLA point of Sale machines across the country or via the shortcode *890# on all networks.

Midweek

As the name suggests, the NLA’s Midweek lottery takes place every Wednesday and is also a 5/90 fixed odds Game. It is currently the second most popular NLA game and is widely patronised by many Ghanaians. One can play by selecting a maximum of 5 out of 90 numbers. Draws are then held at 6:30pm to randomly select 5 winning numbers.

Fortune Thursday

This also involved the selection of at least 1 and at most 5 out of 90 numbers and takes place on Thursday’s only. One can play on all NLA point of Sale machines across the country or via the shortcode *890# on all networks.

Friday Bonanza

The Friday Bonanza lottery is aimed at preparing players for the NLA’s flagship lottery on Saturday. Similar to the others, one can play by selecting any number from 1-90 with a maximum of 5 numbers.

National Weekly Lotto

The National Weekly Lotto is the flagship product of the NLA and has been running for over 50 years. It’s also a 5/90 Game which involves the selection of at least 1 and at most 5 number(s) from 1-90 numbers at a play.

VAG Lotto

The Veterans Administration Ghana (VAG) was launched in July 2019 for veterans but has quickly become a national favourite for oldies. Tailor-made for veterans, the product is a 5/90 fixed odds game as players are required to select 5 out of 90 numbers to stand a chance of winning.

Super 6
